So Why is that?
Migraine is condition triggered by something of an unknown cause. Can we fight the unknown? No, but we can use general migraine prevention methods to reduce the chances of happening.
As we migraine sufferers all know once the pain starts, there is nothing that can stop it. Conventional pain killers and migraine pain killers just simply don't work. Conventionals are the ones widely available for any kind of pain. Like aspirin or Ibuprofen or paracetamol, advil, etc. These are not working on migraines once the pain develops.
Migraine pain killers, like excedrin migraine, migraleave, immigran sumatripan migra whatever, don't work either. They might be stronger than the conventional pain killers but thats all. Just perhaps a bigger dose of the active ingredient is mixed into them.
The facts are, migraine pain is untreatable. Some super strength morphine or codeine or some other sedative type drugs, might be able to stop the pain but they are harmful for us in large doses. They are available in some extreme cases by prescription only and very expensive and only two doses per month in some cases, which does not help a chronic migraine sufferer like I was with a length of 4-5 days of headache per week. Also out of reach for most migraine sufferers for one reason or another. Like lack of money, lack of insurance, lack of knowledgeable doctors, etc.
They don't work, because the pain is the result of the cause and since we don't know the causes of migraines, there are no effective pain killers either.
Prevention is the only known effective cure for migraines.
